The Department of Environmental Engineering and Natural Resources, in partnership with the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering in Sabratha, along with the Libyan Center for Studies and Research in Environmental Science and Technology, Sabratha branch, held a workshop titled "Climate Change and Its Impact on the Environment." 

The workshop was attended by the Vice Chancellor for Scientific Affairs at the university, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering in Sabratha, the Director of the Research and Consulting Center at the university, the Head of the Quality and Performance Assessment Office at the university, the Director of the Monitoring Center for Farwa Island in Zuwara, as well as the General Director of the Libyan Center for Research in Terrestrial and Marine Environment, and a group of environmental enthusiasts from the Faculty of Arts and Education in Sabratha and the Faculty of Science in Sabratha.

The workshop addressed several topics and included international participation from Malaysia. This participation was a joint effort between the Department of Environmental Engineering and the University of Science Malaysia, Faculty of Environmental Engineering (USM). Professor Omar Abdulqader, the Chief Environmental Consultant in Malaysia, delivered a presentation via Zoom about the environmental impact of sewage on the sea of Sabratha, which was a distinguished contribution. The Libyan Center also had two contributions on defining climate change and its effects on the environment and carbon footprint, presented by Ms. Wafa Al-Dhib and Ms. Amani Al-Ayat.
Additionally, there was participation from the Chemical Engineering Department and the Environmental Engineering Department regarding the environmental impacts of climate change, presented by Dr. Omar Al-Qaydi and Dr. Adel Benateh. 
A lecture was delivered by Mr. Musadq Nanes, the General Director of the Monitoring Center for Farwa Island, titled "The Impact of Climate Change on the Farwa Reserve." 

The workshop concluded with a series of recommendations that will be submitted to the responsible authorities.
